I'm Michaela Brus, Senior Associate at Lotus Law.

I am a criminal lawyer dedicated to achieving the best results for my clients. Being of Ngāi Tahu descent (Te Taumutu Rūnanga), I have a particular interest in issues affecting Māori and understanding the social factors that drive crime. I am PAL2 approved and run both judge-alone and jury trials. I have experience conducting appeals in both the High Court and Court of Appeal.

I regularly appear in the District Court, both as duty lawyer and for legally aided clients. I take private work in the criminal law if you do not qualify for legal aid. ​I also take some family law files on a case-by-case basis. ​
